Experimental set-up has been designedspecifically for determination of focal length of a combination of twoconvergent lenses using Nodal Slide Assembly. The set-up consists of NodalSlide Assembly, Light source, slit, convex lenses, object screen and basesupport. The set up is complete in all respect and requires no otheraccessories. Practical experience on this set up carries great educative valuefor Science and Engineering Students.
This setup helps students to understand thebasic property of lens like focal length, focus point, nodal point, principalaxis, centre of curvature etc.
The focal length (F) of a combination of twoconvergent lenses using Nodal Slide Assembly is given by:
1/F =1/ f1 + 1 / f2- d / f1 f2
Where, f1, and f2 are the focal length oflens-1 and lens-2 respectively and d refers to the distance between the twolenses.
