Gas chromatography-mass spectrometry (GC-MS) is widely perceived as an essential analytical tool for analysis in the petrochemical industry. Its simplicity, sensitivity and effectiveness in separating and identifying components have made GC-MS one of the most important tools in analytical chemistry across a spectrum of current chemical industries. GC-MS can be utilized across the entire value chain in the oil and petrochemical fields. It can be used in the prospecting stage and in the refining process to monitor and improve quality, to final refined and formulated fuels and lubricants, as well as to ensure compliance with environmental standards.

Gas chromatography mass spectrometry (GC-MS) for a research and teaching environment to identify different substances in a test sample and trace elements in materials that were previously thought to have disintegrated beyond identification.

System should be capable of supporting two inlets and two detector ports simultaneously, should have electronic pneumatic / pressure controls for all the gases and capability of locking adjusting the retention time so that same Retention time reproduced from system to system and the method electronically transferred.

The system ideally following features:

i. Provision to install two or more columns

ii. Operating temp range of oven from near ambient to 450°C

iii. Oven temp ramp rate of oven °C or better

iv. Possible to program 20 temp ramps (21 plateaus) or better

v. 15 EPC/PPC channels for inlets, detectors or auxiliary gases or more

vi. Flow sensor for control & storage of split ratio

vii. Possible to use capillary columns of 50, 100, 250, 320 microns

viii. The pressure set points adjustable by increments of 0.001 psi up to 100 psi Maximum temperature attainable 400oc or more

ix. GC gas saver mode to reduce the consumption of gas without compromising performance.

x. Inlets: Two inlets Possible Purged-packed with EPC. Packed inlet system with electronic pneumatics control (EPC) and septum purge. 0-100 psi operation.

xi. Multimode Inlet: The inlet used as S/SL and also for Large volume injection. The MMI tempt ramping facility upto 800 deg/min or better with 5/6 ramps and plateaus

xii. The system one FID detector with the following specification or better:


xiv. Dynamic range: > 107 xv. Data acquisition rate: up to 500 Hz

xv. All gases flow adjustable /controlled by software with no manual control
